DIY Part Four- Paneled Wall

I have always loved to decorate. When I was young I would come up with new ideas for our house and try to talk my mom into doing them. (She would give in occasionally!) When I would babysit I would walk around and either admire the decor or think about things I would change about people's houses. And long before we were looking for houses I had a file on our laptop with decorating ideas. (This was pre-Pinterest days :) )
Once I get an idea for a project it is like an itch I can't scratch until I am able to start working on it! I have literally lost sleep because I lay awake going over projects for the house in my mind!(Wow, this is sounding a little OCD!)
But this next project was very spur of the moment. Zach and I were watching Million Dollar Listing and I saw a living room with a paneled wall. I paused the TV on the image. I talked Zach into how easy it would be to do and how fabulous it would look :) He halfheartedly agreed and I filed the idea away in my mind. That was on a Saturday. Then Monday he called me before heading home from work and said "Maybe we could do that paneled wall tonight." My husband knows the way to my heart! ;) So we did it!

Here is a before picture of the wall:

The hardest part of the whole project was getting the measurements right. We would draw it out on paper and then try mapping it out on the wall. Somehow it never matched up! So we measured, and re-measured, and re-measured! But once we got it right it actually went really quickly. (Thanks to our friends Camie and Chad for loaning us their chop saw or else it would have taken FOREVER!)
Here is a step by step in pictures:

We also painted the rest of the room blue. I was on the hunt for a perfect shade of blue and after many hours of looking and a few different samples painted on the wall, I went with Benjamin Moore's Woodlawn Blue. I love it so much I think I might paint our master bedroom in it as well. I love how calming it is and how it looks different shades throughout the day as the light changes.
Here is the before picture of the paint:
Sort of a grayish/tan-ish color
And the after:

I especially love how the blue looks against the white of the paneled wall and the browns in the floor

I am LOVING this color combination lately; green and blue. You'll see much more of that when I get my drapes up for this room :)

Here are two cute cuties sitting on my next project- trying to reupholster this chair. I've had it for MONTHS. Time to bite the bullet.
